A girl with a dream, that made it reality…
quite quickly I might add!

I grew up in a small country town in the Lockyer Valley. Started my passion through making cakes for family, taking over my Nanas job in making family birthday cakes. Soon coming to realise I really loved creating and experimenting with all kinds of foods. Not long after I knew what I wanted to do!

I left school at the age of 14, and started my apprenticeship as a Baker/Pastry Chef at a little bakery in my home town. Through my apprenticeship I developed many skills and found my own style. Making sugar flowers, four-tier wedding cakes with layers of fruit cake, chocolate mud and caramel mud cake. Also entering cake competitions, placing and even winning in many.

Meanwhile undergoing my apprenticeship I started selling cakes on the side to the public. My small business grew and grew! I soon came to realise I wanted to grow more within my passion which resulted in moving to the Gold Coast and completing my apprenticeship at a 5 star hotel. I am currently working at a High-end Bakery/Café and loving every minute of it.

My business expresses my own unique style, no cake design the same. Every little detail is as much as important as the rest. My clients opinions and ideas are executed into “the perfect cake for us”. I strive for the “wow” factor from my clients through not only cakes but also desserts and petit fours. Everything is made using the best possible ingredients to achieve the perfect tasting product.

You Say the Sweetest Things

Our first cake from Sugar Sweet was our wedding cake in 2015! From our very first meeting with Soph everything was just so easy and we knew that she would absolutely nail it. We shared our ideas and a few pictures, but left the rest up to her creative abilities. And what can I say, WOW! Our cake was absolutely breathtaking (she actually made me cry when I first saw it) and of course delicious too. Since then we have had many more beautiful cakes created for all our families special occasions and milestones. I know no matter if I have something very specific in mind or a request a “Sophie creation” that the attention to detail is exceptional and a definite crowd pleaser.
